Here are some of my favorite resources for informationa bout Yamaha electric guitars.
Yamaha's Website
section for Electric Guitars and Basses.
Yamaha's Website from the past
This is my secret little treasure map. Accessible through The Wayback Machine for Yamaha.com, it only goes back to about 1997 but I've found it to be a bit of a gold mine for harvesting information about models from the late-90's to the present.
The History of Yamaha Guitars: Over Sixty Years of Innovation
A book from 2006 that is a great summary but is quite light on details. More like a highlight reel with a lot of good pictures.
Bill Alston,
who has compiled information on virtually every Yamaha electric guitar model. I consider his website the best Yamaha guitar model encyclopedia on the web.
Rod (AKA "rodrocker52"),
Who announced on the YamahaMusicians.com forum at the beginning of 2025 that he had self-published YAMAHA: 60 Years of Electric Guitars (1965-2024), "An Enthusiast’s Catalogue". It's basically a reference manual with tables and charts for comparing all the specs and info he could find on every Yamaha electric guitar model.
He has moved onto other things in retirement but may still have hard copies available to order if you contact him. Out of respect for his work I will never copy info from his book onto my website directly, and will be very careful about using info from his book that I don't see available anywhere else online, and if I do so I will cite his work very intentionally.
Axebition's Yamaha section,
a great "quick-take" reference source for specs on Yamaha guitar models. Note that not everything on there is 100% accurate but most of the time it seems to be fine.
r/YamahaPacifica sub on Reddit,
which despite its name is for all Yamaha guitars, not just Pacificas. From what I can tell, this is where younger generation fans hang out the most.
The Yamaha Facebook groups
are where more of the more middle-aged and older Yamaha guitar players and fans "hang out" when it comes to the well-known social media platforms. These include (ordered from most members to least members - and some may be for electric and acoustic guitars):
